War veterans and Londoners alike have been left confused after a poster for the London 2012 Festival had the HMS Belfast airbrushed out of it.
The warship, which has been moored on the Thames since 1971, appears nowhere to be seen in the picture which shows an image of Tower Bridge and the surrounding area. First seen at Camden Town underground the poster has now caused great outcry from war veterans and proud Londoners with saying they are ‘horrified’ by the HMS’ omission.
According to a spokes person from the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games has released a statement saying the ship was airbrushed out as it was underneath one of the letters of text on the poster.
