Uh Oh. Things aren’t looking too rosy for the US branch of Urban Outfitters at the moment after they’ve caused outcry with their new lookbook.
The problems for Urban Outfitters when they published a picture of two female models kissing while wearing their new collection in their new April lookbook which appears online and has been printed as a catalogue which can be picked up in stores.
While images of female models kissing doesn’t exactly come as anything too shocking to most of us a group of campaigners have taken huge offense to the image and are calling for it to be removed. One Million Moms are a US organisation that aims to stop exploitation of children in the media and their calling for mums around America to ‘trash’ the Urban Outfitters catalogue. The organisation took to their website to say, ‘Warning! On page two of this catalog is a picture of two women kissing in a face holding embrace! The ad and catalog are clearly geared toward teenagers. Tell them [Urban Outfitters] you will also no longer shop at their stores if you hear this type of advertising continues. The content is offensive and inappropriate for a teen who is the company’s target customer.’
