So summer’s over, our bare legs can go back into hiding until next year and it means we have an excuse to go shopping for new clothes. It’s perfect timing really as shops are stocking up with their new collections and this AW12 trousers are having a big moment. They are no longer the wardrobe fail safe with which we’ll wear our more statement tops and shoes, this season, trousers are the statement piece.
Now if you want to get involved in the trouser take over then there are 3 types you should make sure you have in your wardrobe this autumn. Here they are:
Bold Trousers: The brighter the better. Key shades are red, orange and colbalt blue. Wear them with a simple white t-shirt for an every day look or if you want to go all out try a tonal look with different shades of the same colour head to toe.
Leather Trousers : These are an absolute must. Once you get their first outing out of the way you’ll realise that they are just as easy to wear as jeans but look so much cooler. Keep everything else simple, a neon knit or a printed tee. Avoid wearing with another leather item and be careful of overheating, you’ll want to avoid any embarrassing Ross from Friends situations.
Printed Trousers : With a summer full of clashing prints there was no way the trend would vanish completely for autumn. Go for checks, baroque, oriental and graphic for a change from florals. Clashing the prints is still the way to wear them (see here) but again if the thought of that is too scary keep your trousers loud and everything else simple.
