If you are thinking what is there to do today then why not go to the first ever Tooting Zine Fair celebrating independent Zines as well as film and art.
There aren’t as many fan-zines around as there used to be, which is in some ways a shame but in other ways it means that the best of the best have survived the tough times.
Showing that there is certainly still a market for things printed on paper and made by hand the Tooting Zine fair is gathering together some of the best zines around at the Construction Gallery today (Saturday February 25). If you visit you will find an eclectic selection of local and global artists showcasing their finest fanzines, artists books, illustrations, comics and writing.
Putting on the event are Tooting-based artists Hamja Ahsan and Sowfia Niazi, two people who have been instrumental in bringing zine subculture to their local area (Tooting) in a bid to address the lack of arts and events on offer.
You can also expect workshops, exhibitions, animations and video screenings throughout the day.
