Today is World Toilet Day, a celebration of loos and basic hygiene all in aid of drawing attention to the global sanitation challenge.
The initiative was created back in 2001 to point to the lack of proper facilities and the effect that it has on the health of those living all around the world.
It’s estimated that 2.5 billion people do not have access to a clean toilet with diarrheal diseases responsible for the deaths of 2 million people each year and an estimated 88% of those are down to unsafe water supply, sanitation and hygiene.
World Toilet Day also wins best hashtag of the day, for those that like tweeting, write something inspirational with #IGiveAShit.
