The second single from The Walkmen’s LP Heaven is The Love You Love, and they’re certainly bringing a little darkness to proceedings with the official video.
The black and white piece stars Otis, the son of guitarist Paul Maroon. The youngster plays a twisted kind of kid going all supernatural whilst home alone and the results are very poltergeist.
There’s black holes and ceramic carnage with various items smashed to pieces including Maneki-neko like figures (those freaky waving cats). The Walkmen’s lead singer Hamilton Leithhauser appears to be trapped in the TV as the young boy creates general destruction around the domestic setting punctuated with his moody stares and screams.
The video was produced by Urban Outfitters and directed by the brother of the Fleet Foxes musician Robin Pecknold, Sean, who has also made videos for bands like Beach House and Here We Go Magic.
The Love You Love is taken from The Walkmen’s 7th studio album Heaven which is out now on Fat Possum/Bella Union.
