The Paperboy is Nicole Kidman’s newest film also starring Zac Efron and Matthew McConaughey.
The film is based on the true story of a reporter who returns to his Florida hometown to investigate a case involving a death row inmate.
Convicted murderer Hillary Van Wetter (John Cusack) is adopted as a cause by seductive death row groupie, Charlotte Bless (Nicole Kidman). Bless enlists the help of Ward James (Matthew McConaughey)and Yardley Acheman (David Oyelowo), two investigative reporters who become convinced that they have a Pulitzer Prize winning story on their hands. But wires become crossed when Ward’s wayward brother (Zac Efron) gets involved, corners are cut and the case to prove Van Wetter’s innocence becomes dangerously compromised.
The film has been adapted from a 1995 novel of the same name written by Pete Dexter.
The Paperboy has had all sorts of good reviews from those that saw its debut at Cannes. It is directed by Lee Daniels and although there is no official release date just yet we are excited to see it. It has a stellar cast and even includes an appearance from Macy Gray
