You can officially add The King’s Speech 2 to your list of sequels that have been confirmed in 2012.
According to some inside rumours Colin Firth has signed on the dotted line to reprise his role as the stammering King of England, George VI for a follow up to the hit 2010 film.
However this time around the film will not centre around King George’s struggle with his stamma instead it will follow him and his family during the Blitz.
Of course during the Blitz royalty and the humble commoner had very different experiences and to illustrate this Geoffrey Rush will return as the King’s speech therapist to show how the two different families were affected by the bombings.
Despite it’s huge Box Office in taking and numerous awards we have to say we’re pretty surprised they’ve decided to go ahead with a sequel to The King’s Speech as we thought it worked so well as a stand alone film. However it’s still very early days with no word yet about when filming will commence so there’s still time to change our minds.
