The Kills The Making of The Last Goodbye
This is an intimate glimpse into the making of the video, featuring interviews with Samantha, Jamie and Alison. The video was directed by Ben Crook.
“It was an honor to work with Samantha Morton on this Casablanca-esque, silent-film-esque, Americana photobooth Woolworth’s hay day period piece of surrealism/ realism/ story time tell-tale-ism, black and white 35 mm film, washed in strange light, over this love hate tune, heartbreak song, life-goes-on lullaby, The Last Goodbye. It’s a doorway into the future of the fatal past-tense. Get it?” – Alison Mosshart
“I love the fact that when you used to go to a photo booth, you used to have wait sometimes a good twenty minutes. It could be 8 minutes, 9 minutes. Sometimes, I remember, if they were really crap, you’d have to wait forever and you’d go off for a cup of tea and you’d come back to get your passport pictures and they were there. Also, it was quite expensive when we were young. It was like a real treat but now, it’s still expensive but you just get these crap images of yourself. They’re just horrible and they won’t last in the same way. So in a way a think the song was incredibly nostalgic and I think made me feel nostalgic.” - Samantha Morton
