Baz Luhrmann has got his hyper-stylised hands all over The Great Gatsby in this second official trailer, groping the source material into submission with bursts of anger and colour.
The film is a slightly surreal take on the F. Scott Fitzgerald novel of the same name, focalising the 1920s with the kind of day-glo exaggeration we’ve seen in Luhrmann’s previous projects.
Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan and even a moustachioed Joel Edgerton can be seen flamboyant-ing it up in the trailer. We’ll have to see whether the mishmash of modern music that it also features will make it into the final cut.
