Swatch’s newest collaboration is with Chinese fashion designer, Uma Wang.
These watches with Uma are certainly our favourite collaboration from Swatch to date. The two watches compliment each other perfectly. One a putty colour with simple black stripe down the center that does not stop for the watch face and the other with an over riding aztec type print that is also continuous.
In these two watches for Swatch, Uma Wang has conveyed her love of contrasting textures and materials. The watches are each am mix of embroidered textile and plastic.
Uma Wang is a Central Saint Martin’s graduate and launched her own label in 2005. Uma Wang’s label fuses advanced knitting techniques with subtle detail creating some beautifully simple pieces.
Talking about her collaboration Wang said: ‘Swatch to me represents attitude, creativity, energy, and style. Overall, I wanted to communicate my personal passions, inspirations, and heritage. Even though I am Chinese, I didn’t want the collection to be necessarily or literally ‘Chinese’; I wanted to create something more primal.’
The collaborative collection will be in stores this month (April) and the watches will be priced £44.50 each.
