On Monday 16th July Swarovski will launch ‘Iconic London’, a live art event featuring the illustrative talents of design duo, Becky Bolton and Louise Chappell, otherwise known by the moniker, Good Wives and Warriors, at their flagship store on London’s Regent Street.
Swarovski devotees and visitors to London will see the windows of the brand’s Regent’s Street store transformed over a period of two days beginning on the evening of July 16th into an aesthetic vision of London characterised by the pair’s unique, ethereal and indubitably idiosyncratic illustrative genius. ‘Iconic London’ will celebrate an exclusive UK retail preview of the Autumn/Winter 2012 collection, Kingdom of Jewels, elements of which will also be incorporated into Good Wives and Warriors’ design.
‘Iconic London’ will encourage customers to interact with the brand through social media channels by communicating how London inspires them, the names and suggestions of successful participants will be incorporated into the final design. The installation will remain in place for a fortnight before the process is repeated on 31st July. Whilst the main event will be taking place at Swarovski’s Regent Street store, those on Oxford Street, in Covent Garden, White City, and Stratford will also be participating.
Those unable to visit Swarovski’s London stores can also take part by visiting specific campaign pages at facebook.com and swarovski.com or by using the twitter hashtag #IconicLondon. Fans can discover if their suggestions have been successful and watch the artwork come to life online. There will also be the opportunity to win pieces from the Autumn/Winter 2012 collection.
Good Wives and Warriors duo, Becky Bolton and Louise Chappell, have been working collaboratively since 2007, soon after graduating from The Glasgow School of Art. Now based in Berlin, they divide their time between designing large scale installations for fine art settings and undertaking design commissions for companies in the UK and abroad including Absolut Vodka, Adidas, Urban Outfitters and Comme des Garcons.
