Have you seen a brand new house on legs pop up in Aldgate? We love this open structure from Studio Weave.
The Paleys Upon Pilers (Palace on Pillars) is another sculpture new to London especially for the Olympics.
Studio Weave are architects who make furniture, buildings and landscapes and their new wooden structure creates part gateway (reinstating where an old Roman gate would have been ) and part elevated room.
In Studio Weave’s words the design evokes “images of fantastic dream-like temples of impossible materials and scale, elevated on precarious, precious structures above vast, bizarre landscapes conceivable as analogies for the City.”
Paleys upon Pilers was put up on Friday and marked the beginning of High Street 2012, the direct route from the City of London to the games site at Stratford.
