The Southbank Centre has joined the long line of London venues going Jubilee crazy as it reveals it’s brand new make over complete with metal robots perching on its roof.
The Southbank Centre has never been one of London’s prettiest venues but it certainly is one of our most popular culture spots so it makes sense that they might want to brighten things up a bit in time for all the tourists arriving.
Among the new art works that now adorne the outside of the building are bright green plastic colanders which have been wrapped around the pillars that hold up the building. As well as that if you look up you’ll also see two giant wooden robots scaling the building as well as several brightly coloured trees and various other pieces of new decor.
After this weekend a few other additions will start appearing at the venue including a multi-coloured man made beach which will span the entire length of the building.
