Sitaaray restaurant in Covent Garden has been closed after environmental officers found rotting mice and maggots there. Yuk.
Sitaaray actually offer really good food so this is both a surprise and a real shame that they neglected the cleanliness in their kitchens.
However it’s not just Sitaaray that has been found of malpractice where hygiene is concerned. Two more central London restaurants and the nightclub Tamarai have been shut down after all sorts of foulness was found in their kitchens including cockroach eggs, rodent droppings, maggots and decomposing mice.
Tamarai nightclub is the official supplier of pan Asian cuisine to Harrods’ food hall so if you are thinking of treating yourself this weekend from something Asian inspired at the top end food hall maybe hold back until they get a new supplier.
Camden Council are behind the closings, cracking down hard on cleanliness in the capital. They have also closed a kebab shop in High Holborn and an Indian restaurant in the Euston area.
