Continuing with the found footage trend that’s hit UK cinemas this year is new triller Sinister and you can check out it’s great first trailer above.
What this trailer does ever so well is build up suspense without giving too much of the story away. Starting with news footage of a family brutally murdered in the home the trailer then moves us nine months forward to a time when a new family (mum, dad, vulnerable looking daughter) are moving into the house.
Where Sinister stands out from other films of this type is that the family aren’t then haunted by the ghosts of those who died in that house but by the spirit of a creature who preys on the souls of young children. This spirit lives within images and within footage and is only awakened when he is spotted. Of course the dad (played by Ethan Hawke) is a nosey writer who decides to watch some home videos he finds in the house’s loft letting all kinds of hell loose on his family.
