There are a few interesting things about upcoming video game-turned horror movie adaptation Silent Hill Revelation.
The first is that, as the title suggests, there’s only going to be a singular revelation, when a movie of this kind would usually choose the plural option, just to be on the safe side.
The second is that it is being made at all, given that its 2006 predecessor received a critical drubbing after its release and only performed modestly at the box office.
However, Sean Bean has been coaxed back for another stab at converting this franchise from a polygonal world of player-controlled characters to a passively experienced cinematic narrative.
This time it’s in 3D, which means it will probably net the producers a bit more cash as a result. But this trailer does little to suggest that trying to turn a weird Japanese game into a Hollywood blockbuster will actually work out for the best.
Silent Hill Revelation is out on October 26th.
