Are you ready for London to look like Tron next week? Because that’s what’s going to happen on the 5th July when the Shard is externally completed.
It seems like they’ve been working on it forever but the officially opening celebrations for The Shard will take place on 5th July it’s been announced today.
In fitting with it’s status as Europe’s tallest building The Shard is set to launch in a rather spectacular fashion with a laser light show which will cover London in streams of green light.
The Shard, now Western Europe’s tallest building will be lit up at 10.15pm by 30 searchlights from across the city. You might want to be careful of any blinded birds dropping from the skies as they get blinded by the lights.
Without a doubt it will be an impressive sight and if you can’t witness it in the flesh then fear not as the light show will be streamed on the Shard’s website and Facebook page.
The Shard itself will send out 15 coloured lasers to other tall (but not as tall) buildings across the city including the London Eye, Tower Bridge and the Gherkin.
The next day tickets will be on sale to go up the knee weakening building though once booked any actual visit will have to wait until February 2013 when the viewing platform is due for completion. Plenty of time then to settles your stomach beforehand.
