Radio presenter and TV personality Nick Grimshaw is set to takeover from Chris Moyles for BBC Radio 1‘s Breakfast slot.
Chris Moyles made the announcement on air this morning which soon got Radio 1 trending on twitter however the broadcaster is not leaving straight away and will still remain a fixture of morning radio until September.
The DJ is currently Radio 1′s longest-serving breakfast host and will be replaced by the 27 year old Grimshaw. There has been comment recently that the Radio station needs to attract a younger audience with the BBC Trust mentioning in June that it wanted to target listeners under the age of 30.
Grimshaw or “Grimmers” as he is known to many, started out on student radio at Liverpool University and has been with BBC radio since 2007. The personality is also known for hosting Channel 4′s The Album Chart Show and other youth centric broadcasting on E4 Music.
