We know you are all horrified that everyone’s talking about Christmas already but you have to realise that there are only about 85 days to go until the big festive day.
With that in mind you might be a little more interested to hear that The Rolling Stones will be collaborating with Carnaby Street this year on their Christmas light installations. Over the years Carnaby has begun to outshine even Oxford Street with it’s Christmas light efforts that are a million miles away from having the theme of the latest Disney or Pixar movie like the main streets of Central London.
This year is the Rolling Stones’ 50th Anniversary so it makes sense that they would come to the rock and roll stomping ground that is Carnaby Street to celebrate Christmas.
The Christmas decorations will be large 3D spheres suspended down the length of Carnaby Street containing gold and silver vinyl records emblazoned with the bands iconic artwork that tells a visual story from the band’s creation in the 1960s to the present day.
The Carnaby entry arches will turn into The Stones iconic tongue logo.
All this will appear on the 8th November 2012 and then hang around until the 6th January 2013. There will also of course, be a pop up shop dedicated to the aging rockers selling limited edition apparel and prints plus the bands new Greatest Hits collection GRRR!, out on 12th November . A limited edition canvas shopping bag will also be available for Carnaby shoppers.
