We loved the idea of the Tate Tanks when we first heard about them. So we’re excited to learn that their spreading their wings even wider this weekend with an event hosted by former pirate radio station Rinse FM.
If you grew up in London and had any interest in grime, garage or dubstep there’s a good chance that you spent an unnecessary amount of hours tuned into Rinse FM. Known for launching some of the biggest artists in those genres including the likes of Ms Dynamite they’re very much seen as the godfathers of that kind of music.
And now they’re due to base themselves at the Tate Tanks this Saturday for an evening of underground music charting the 18 year life span of the radio station. It’s a great idea if you want our opinion especially as it opens the spaces up to an audience who might not otherwise pay them a visit.
Kicking off at 7pm and running through till 9.30pm the free event will include light and performance presentations all exploring countercultural music genres.
Here’s the 10 songs you’ll hear if you head down there for the event…
Origin Unknown Valley Of The Shadows
M-Beat ft. General Levy Incredible
Double 99 R.I.P. Groove
DJ Zinc 138 Trek
Sticky ft. Ms Dynamite Booo!
