Today River Island announced that Rihanna will be designing her own collection for the highstreet store. There’s a little time for us to wait, since the Rihanna for River Island collection won’t launch till Spring 2013, but with the brand’s very RiRi inspired bra tops and printed leggings, we’re not at all surprised to hear about the pairing.
Rihanna said that she’d been wanting to design her own collection for a while and reckoned River Island was the ‘perfect partner’. Having already been spotted on the London Underground earlier this year, she also bigged up our city: “I find London really inspiring and River Island loves to have fun with clothes. I’m looking forward to working with them and creating something really special.”
The pairing comes after Rihanna’s first designer collection for Armani last year. This time around though we’re pleased that an affordable highstreet collection is on the cards. The first of its kind in River Island, celebrity collaborations have become popular with H&M, Topshop and Very bucking the trend in previous years.
Tongues started wagging when Rihanna was spotted at River Island HQ in February, later tweeting photos of herself in a Rolling Stones T-shirt she’d chosen on her visit.
Ro-roll on next spring!
