Not so long ago, you’ll remember Who’s Jack featured an article on Hot Tub Cinema: the latest London cinema craze.
On Friday, WJ checked out the event, and has got some good stuff to report.
Hot Tub Cinema is great fun. Perhaps the best thing about the night is the spectacular view you get over London from the rooftop of Netil House. The space itself is very well decorated and far larger than it seems from the photos, with Moroccan tents dotted around for chilling in.
As well as Hot Tubs, there’s a food and drinks bar, where you can order things like potato fries and cocktails. The barmaids and barmen are happy to bring these over to the hot tubs, too. All of the staff and organisers working at the event are friendly and accommodating. On entry, you are even given a free glass of champagne.
The film for the night was ‘Back to the Future’. WJ’s only mild complaint is that we would have liked more arty, original choices. The film is decided by a Facebook vote, and some of options we got were ‘Zoolander’, ‘Back to the Future’, ‘Dumb and Dumber’: more for the teenage boy audience than trendy twenty-somethings.
When the film ended, everyone was a bit drunk (you get drunker quicker in a hot tub), danced, then had a huge water fight. There was also some whirlpool action. It was all very exciting.
We fully recommend an evening at Hot Tub Cinema. It’s certainly a unique experience, and great value for money.
