Remember RED? It was a kind of fine, kind of melancholy action comedy that came out a few years ago, the enjoyment of which relied heavily on how funny you found seeing Helen Mirren firing a gun and assassinating people.

Smash cut to 2013 and we’re just a few months away from the release of its sequel, the appropriately named RED 2.

Bruce Willis, John Malkovich and good old Dame Helen are back in the thick of it, coming out of retirement for some murderous globe-trotting that will take them to London, Paris and Moscow.

Catherine Zeta Jones has been flung into the mix, and in the trailer can be seen sporting a hilarious hat; possibly an attempt by her character to stave off the ravages of time by dressing youthfully. Or perhaps just a wardrobe error that stuck.

There’s even a playfully manic turn from Anthony Hopkins, stepping into the shoes vacated by the notably absent Morgan Freeman.

RED 2 will be out in the UK on August 2nd, so keep your extra large catheter bags at the ready.
