I’m not sure about you lot but a pub with a fire is something I look forward to all year around, there is something that just can’t be beat when it comes to they cosiness of a pint or large glass of red in front of some roaring flames.
So where are the best fire wielding pubs in London? Well we’re about to tell you.
The great thing about The Queens is that it is right at the bottom of Primrose Hill so after a blustery walk up and around the hill you can wonder down and warm your toes in front of this open fire with a home made sausage roll or pork pie (they are so good). Try to pick an unusual hour to visit this fireplace however as there are only so many seat near it and when the place gets busy your chilly little toes won’t get a look in.
The Albion makes you feel like you’re in a plush hotel and you’ve just popped down for a night cap before wondering back up the stairs to your bed that’s been all turned down for you ready to curl up in.
The fire here is open and warms at least three tables and is just the finishing touch in what is an incredibly cosy pub full stop.
The Spaniards is a cosy lovers cosy dream. Nestled in Hampstead you can even wear wellies to it and not feel like a fool as it is sufficiently in the countryside and what feels better than kicking off wellies in front of a fire? Other cosniess to mention aside form the pub fire are creaky floorboards and wonderful food.
You might think it from the outside but on the inside (the small end not the large expansive end full of tourists), mid-week it has a wonderfully cosy area with both fire and huge old fashioned radiators that you can lean yourself up against. The other great thing is that this pub may look a little rough around the edges but its prices make up for it.
Ok so it’s not strictly a pub but it has two roaring fires, comfy sofas and serves drinks so it’s near enough for us! This is a hotel yet but the front bar is very much for anyone that wishes to come through the doors and the relaxed atmosphere coupled with the bustling of people coming and going a little way away along with free computers and internet lends for a lovely long stay even if you don’t have a room.
Just off Southgate Road near Haggerston is the Scolt Head with one of the most beautiful fires ever. They also have huge home made Scotch eggs and more to keep your bellies warm as well as your hands. This is a great find as it is relatively off the beaten track and you will feel like you have tracked down somewhere really special when you join the locals in this cosy secret hideaway sans fire.
