We’ve been wondering for some time now what they were going to do with the closed down space that was the Grand Union in Kentish Town and now we’ve found out. It’s going to be a Pizza East.
Yep that’s right the popular Shoreditch based restaurant Pizza East is taking up residency on Highgate Road in Kentish Town much to the delight of North Londoners everywhere.
The space that used to house Grand Union until a few months ago has been shut for some time now and speculation in the area has been rife about what will be done with the space after Grand Union failed to bring in the punters or emulate the success of their Camden branch just down the road.
Due to be opened on 1st August the restaurant will be Pizza East’s third location following on from chains in the old Tea Building in Shoreditch and a venue in Notting Hill.
The venue will be split into two floors with a bar downstairs and a restaurant upstairs and will be serving up the type of curve ball flavoured pizzas that Pizza East has become known for.
With a few months to go until it’s opening it looks like redevelopment works are going well however we’ll have to wait until the doors are open to find out if it can escape the curse that the location has held for it’s predecessors.
