Milliner to the stars Philip Treacy has teamed up with Brit luxury brand Asprey to make the most chic (and expensive) Christmas Cracker.
The famous designer has created a limited edition set of 80 crackers complete with sterling silver thimble, star-shaped confetti and ‘pop-up hat’ designed in collaboration with paper artist David Bartlett.
David Bartlett and Treacy collaborated for London Fashion Week in September when he constructed the Neverland pop-up theme park hat complete with a big wheel and helter skelter. This time a pop-up hat has been crafted with inspiration taken from the millinery boxes stacked in Treacy’s studio for the Christmas cracker.
With a hefty cost of £1,500 Treacy himself has labelled the cracker an ‘extreme luxury’ where inside each is a sterling silver thimble engraved with Treacy’s signature, a tool of his very trade.
Like all good crackers, the Philip Treacy Christmas Cracker contains a joke, but of course to reflect the luxury of this Cracker it’s no ordinary one liner, instead it’s been written by David Walliams.
One lucky cracker also contains a silver ticket which will give the winner a bespoke hat made by Philip Treacy himself, perhaps that makes the £1,500 price tag worth it…
