When it came to the Olympics we had information thrown at us left right and centre but for the Paralympics, which kicks off today, we don’t seem to have been given much insight at all.
However if you’re interested in the Games fear not, here’s all you need to know about tonights Opening Ceremony…
The event will kick off at 8.30pm but coverage will start from 8pm over on Channel 4 who will also be broadcasting all the Games throughout the 11 day event.
Anyone fearing that tonights celebration wouldn’t be as spectacular as the last Opening Ceremony should be pleased to know that just as much effort has been put into this one. With a billion people expected to tune in the pressure is on yet again to impress.
As well as live music there will also be performances from some of the world’s most famous Paralympians including Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson who is an 11 time champion. There will also be a guest appearance from Stephen Hawking who is expected to appear via video message as well as an opening based on Shakespeares play The Tempest.
Randomly enough the ceremony will also be celebrating scientific achievements including the discover of the God particle and the Big Bang Theory.
There will be live music from Beverley Knight and blind opera singer Denise Leigh as well as performances from 50 disabled performers who will be performing a circus routine.
Coverage of the event will run until 11.20pm with the official Games beginning tomorrow.
