Details of a major Olympic security test which is due to kick off tomorrow (2nd May) have been unveiled.
RAF helicopters, Royal Navy ships and jets are due to be deployed between 2nd – 10th May in what will be the largest Olympic security test in London to date.
Another security option being tested out in the coming days is the potential plans to base surface-to-air missiles at six different locations around the Olympic site, a move that is angering local residents who fear that they bases could be on top of their homes. Dummy missiles will be placed at the sites to work out if it is logistically possible.
The tests kick off tomorrow in Weymouth where the sailing events will take place and will then move to London where tests will be carried out on the capital’s airspace and across the River Thames.
