With the end of the year drawing ever nearer the count down to the London 2012 Olympic Games is really getting underway and to celebrate the organisers have given us a glimpse an art installation that will be wrapped around the sites trees will look like.
The arboreal art installations will appear on 10 of the sites tallest trees and will be made from a 20ft wide metal band with the plan being that over time the trees will grow around the band and become a permanent reminder of the games.
The bands have been designed by Ackroyd and Harvey and will be inscribed on the inside with hidden histories about London and the games so that in years to come people will discover them and learn a little something about us and the time we lived in.
