So the month of Fashion Week is here and first up to get it all started was New York. We’re only halfway through week one so expect a whole host of new trends to emerge and keep yourself updated on here as we cover all the shows with a special focus on London Fashion week.
Here’s a round up of the shows so far:
Peter Som: With his clean lines and flattering cuts, Peter Som’s SS13 range is easy to fall in love with. The main palette was of pastels, with burst of electric blue and tangerine, feminine shapes and wearable prints. Twin set floral prints look set for a return next year as do statement embellished collars. A girly and romantic collection with a focus on intricate embroidery and embellishment.
Jason Wu: A texture mix heavy collection full of leathers, sheers and lace is right up our street. Favourite pieces were the forward thinking tailoring of texture mix blazers with sheer sleeves, lazer cut hem lines, high waist trousers and full sleeve nylon gloves worn with everything. The leather detail on just about everything gave even what should be a pretty floral dress a harder edge. A mainly monochrome palette with hints of coral and navy blue.
Tommy Hilfiger: For SS13 no one quite does preppy and patriotic like Tommy Hilfiger. With a palette of red, white and blue this collection screams all American girl. Full of nautical stripe suits, maxi dress, shirt dresses, shirts, blazers, swimwear bags and even shoes it’s easy to see his main focus lies.
Helmut Lang: The main influence behind this collection was ‘life under the ocean’ and through their colour palette and textures you can really see it. Dresses layered in translucent fabrics and nude shades filled this collection. With loose wearable shapes that gave a nod to the Sports Luxe trend. Hints of tangerine and electric blue also made another appearance, two colours that are fast becoming SS13 hottest shades.
Lacoste: With next year being the labels 80th anniversary, this collection was always going to be quite special. With it’s white on white looks of lightweight wide leg trousers, slouchy, sexy tracksuits and the first appearance of a bum bag it didn’t disappoint. Our favourite part was the play on prints, tennis racket prints, folded polo shirt prints and tennis ball prints were among our favourites.
Hervé Léger by Max Azria: The masters of the body con dress made a return for SS13, with geometric prints, a neutral palette and intricate details being the main attractions. Their trademark bandage dresses were still present but updated with leather panelling and chain details.
Victoria Beckham: It was the simplicity of this collection that really caught our eye. Smooth lines, soft fabrics with a sporty edge and sexy silhouettes in a base of monochrome with flashes of tomato red. The a-line mini skirts gave her collection a younger feel and we loved the lingerie flashes in the dresses. And you can’t really go wrong if David Beckham is on your front row.
Zac Posen: Zac Posen pulled out all of the stops for his SS13 collection. With a star studded front row and a super model filled catwalk. Naomi Campbell opened the show in a red floral cocktail dress, we saw day dresses turn into his signature evening wear with out favourite dress being the grey strapless midi dress with tulle skirt. Expect to see this whole collection on the red carpet very soon. Stunning.
