Raphaël Pluvinage and Marianne Cauvard’s have made a Noisy Jelly project that is part game, part instrument and part science project.
A chemistry set in a wooden box containing everything you might need to make jelly, moulds, colour, jelly, etc is your starting point to a game that allows each player to create their own musical instrument out of jelly.
The video above (that has no sound editing) shows pretty well how the project works.
Jellies are made using water, agar agar powder and a series of moulds so each set can be as the user wishes it. The jelly shapes are then placed on the game board, and can be manipulated to create sound.
Brilliant.
