Are you mad about beer and in search of something more exciting to do with your daily life? Well the answer is here and it’s from a new brewery in London Fields, Hackney, which needs an intern.
Yes it’s the type of internship which doesn’t pay cash, but you will be rewarded with expenses and plenty of the sweet stuff to keep you going.
The job is for three months, so perfect for a student back for the summer, and there’s a chance for a full-time position so you may end up there permanently.
Although it’s in a brewery, the job doesn’t just involve sitting around drinking the stuff all day (unfortunately). Instead you’ll be trained up in everything from labeling, bottling and cleaning and then onto the fun stuff of brewing. It’s not all hands on either, as you’ll be expected to help out with the events and marketing side of the business.
A love of beer and some background knowledge about the craft beer scene will help and you’ll also need to prove some experience of working in a bar environment. A passion for drinking is a plus, but you’ll also need to be a hard worker who will get down to the tasks dealt out. Ironically a driving licence is also a benefit.
It’s a 10am to 6pm role and if you’re interested more information about the company can be found on its website, by replying to the advert posted on gumtree or by calling 07917322550.
The brewery can be found on Warburton Street and it makes ‘approachable’ beers and uses traditional brewing methods using quality malts and some new British and New World hops to make delicious beers which make the most of the ingredients available.
A few favourites are the Hackney Hopster is the first beer made by the team and is a bright citrus, tropical flavour, which is perfect on a sunny day (if we ever get any) while Love Not War was thought up after the London riots last year and is a mix of brooding red ale, caramel flavours and a light apple edge.
If you’re not looking for a new job and just want to go along and sample some of the beers, the brewery opens bank holiday weekend and there will be a BBQ & grill available to soak up the alcohol along with music from the Dead Dolls Club.
