Orleans House Gallery, in Twickenham, has been awarded a grant to create a new app for artists to use which will direct people to local literary hotspots.

The new app, when it’s completed in November, will send users to nearby locations where authors have been inspired or where they’ve worked.

The Read Right Here project, which is behind the app, has been successful in getting more than 200 local people aged eight to 19 involved with the creative process.

It’s been awarded the money from the Clore Duffield Foundation which is a grant-making charity which is mainly based around cultural and creative learning within arts and heritage organisations.

“It’s a great achievement to have secured this award from the Clore Duffield Foundation,” Councillor Pamela Fleming, Richmond Council cabinet member for communities, business and culture, told This is Local London.

“As a borough we do have key links with number of influential authors, such as Charles Dickens, George Eliot, Alexander Pope and of course Virginia Woolf,” she added.
