Yep, that’s right, today is National Cleavage day. Is there anything that doesn’t have a ‘Day’ to celebrate it?
Either way today is all about all things booby so we have gathered you together a nice selection of images celebrating the ladies breast to do our bit for the celebrations.
Now for the history lesson:
The word ‘cleavage’ is a derivation of the word ‘cleave’ meaning split and coming from the Old English word cliofan/cleofan.
Originally used as a geographical term ‘cleavage’ was first apportioned to the ‘cleft between a woman’s breasts in low-cut clothing’ in 1946 when a Time magazine article used the word as a ‘Johnston Office trade term for the shadowed depression dividing an actress’ bosom into two distinct sections.’
Humans are the only mammals that mate face to face and it is thought that men find the cleavage appealing because it mimics a ladies bum crack. When we were all cave men and women we walked on all fours to show off our sexual organs (charming). If an ape stood upright you not be able to determine if it was a male or female from the front, you can tell however when you can see it’s bum as it walks on all fours.
It is thought that breasts developed and led to the cleavage as we began to walk upright so as still to attract males visually.
And a final fact for you, Researchers at Purdue University in America found that a woman hitchhiker can double the number of lifts she is offered by increasing her bust size by adding 2 inches (5cm) of padding.
