It was announced earlier this year that Chris Moyles was stepping down from his Radio 1 Breakfast show to make room for Nick Grimshaw and today some more details of the shake up have been revealed.
Finally Radio 1 bosses have seen sense and have announced that Grimshaw or ‘Grimmy’ as he so likes to be known will be playing more music than Moyles ever did. Up to 10 tracks an hour apparently which is nearly double what listeners are getting now.
Kicking off his first show on 24th September Grimmy will also be the main man on the show with the new breakfast show featuring way less from the DJs production team. Currently Moyle’s team contribute to the show nearly as much as he is but for Grimmy he’ll very much be in the driving seat.
And of course just like every other brand and media outlet at the moment the new show will be even more driven by social media with listeners asked to share comments, questions and music with the show via Twitter and Facebook.
While we’ve never been the biggest fans of Grimshaw’s TV presenting we’ve always quite liked him on the radio so we’re keeping everything crossed here that he can do a decent job. One thing’s for sure though, it’ll be great to hear more music and a bit less mindless chatter over our Coco Pops in the morning.
Now who do we have to speak to about getting rid of Fearne Cotton…
