To mark the 45th anniversary of the original Beatle’s Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band iconic album work the original artist has recreated the cover with modern day celebrities.
Originally created by Sir Peter Blake the album cover work is highly regarded as the art work that changed album covers forever and now 45 years after its original release Blake has created a brand new version. The updated version of Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band cover features modern day celebrities such as Tracey Emin, Noel Gallagher, Amy Winehouse, photographer David Bailey, director Ridley Scott, Audrey Hepburn, Helen Mirren and fashion designer Alexander McQueen.
Among the images of singers, chefs, fashion designers, writers, directors and actors is also an image of original Beatle, Paul McCartney however the faces of Ringo Starr and the late John Lennon and George Harrison have for some reason been missed off.
Dubbed the Godfather of Pop Art Blake has even included an image of himself and images of his family where the Beatles once stood. Speaking of the piece Blake said, ‘I’ve chosen people I admire, great people and some who are dear friends. I had a very long list of people who I wanted to go in but couldn’t fit everyone in. I think that shows how strong British culture is and its legacy over the last six decades’. Check it out above and see how many of the 78 celebrities you can spot.
