Ever wondered what happened to that new top you bought and then left on the tube? Or the phone that might have been knicked but more likely might have fallen out of your pocket as you got up?
Well it goes to TFL lost and found. There are over 184,000 pieces of lost property found each year on buses, tubes, taxis, trains, trams and stations. And there’s some pretty weird stuff left too.
We have heard of a vast amount of hand bags, likely we know, but a vast amount of hand bags containing dildos. There has also been bags of shopping, whole suit cases and more.
Everything has to be catalogued and to do that things have to be thoroughly searched through so the right questions can be asked to determine if the person who has come to collect their ‘lost item’ is genuine.
Phones and there messages for example, hand bags and the afore mentioned contents etc.
Among the other things frequently left on tubes are walking sticks and crutches as well as false teeth. In one year lost property can receive 36,852 books, 28,550 bags and 27,174 items of clothing.
The weirdest things to have been left on the tube include three dead bats, a vasectomy kit, a jar of bull’s sperm, human skulls, breast implants, a lawnmower and even a park bench, as well as a 14 foot boat and a theatrical coffin.
We feel a bit sorry for the people that have to collect and catalogue it all.
