Designers have drawn inspiration from Minnie Mouse for a collection of one-off clothes and accessories to be auctioned for charity in September.
Dubbed ‘Minnie Mouse Must Haves’, the collection will be unveiled at London Fashion Week and later auctioned via eBay, to support the BFC/Bazaar Fashion Arts Foundation.
The line-up of designers is impressive: Giles, Michael van der Ham, Richard Nicoll, Piers Atkinson, Bunney, Husam el Odeh in collaboration with Luke Hersheson, Katie Hillier, Lulu Guinness, Tatty Devine and Terry de Havilland.
A few preliminary sketches have been revealed and we love this Richard Nicoll comic print dress with Minnie Mouse ear statement sleeves.
It’s not the first time Minnie has provided inspiration since her birth in 1928 and it won’t be the last since we hear a collaboration with Meadham Kirchhoff is also in the offing, to be revealed at their Spring/Summer 2013 show.
Disney will donate proceeds from the one-off eBay auction to the British Fashion Council’s initiative to nurture relationships between creative industries, the BFC/Bazaar Fashion Arts Foundation.
“Minnie Mouse and her unique style continue to inspire fans across the world. We’re thrilled to collaborate with such visionaries to create these one-off designs,” said Marc Low, vice president of Fashion and Home for The Walt Disney Company EMEA. “Surpassing trends, Minnie Mouse’s iconic silhouette, signature bows and polka dots always remain in style which is why she is as relevant today as the day she first appeared on the fashion scene.”
The eBay for Charity programme which the pieces will be auctioned through has raised over £36million for UK charities since it began in 2006.
Disney delirium doesn’t look set to end any time soon and we reckon Minnie Mouse will pull in big bids come September. Mouse fingers at the ready…
