We’re hearing some worrying reports that a man has held four women hostage in an incident that is causing chaos on Tottenham Court Road.
Right now nothing is really being confirmed or denied so we’re having to rely on what people are saying on Twitter but apparently the trouble started a little earlier this morning when a man began throwing paper and office equipment out of a window at the north end of Tottenham Court Road.
As we say nothing has been confirmed yet but there’s rumours that it may involve some kind of bomb scare and the man in question is apparently holding four women hostage after failing an HGV license test that is held at a centre in the building.
We’ll bring you more information on this when we have it but for now try and stay away from the area until we know more.
Update: We’ve now heard news that a man has been arrested at the scene of the incident and a search of the building is now underway.
Update: Apparently the hostages have been let free but the man in question remains inside the building.
Update: Police snipers have taken up positions on nearby rooftops.
Update: Tottenham Court Road is now shut between Goodge Street and Euston Road and all offices are being evacuated.
Update: A video has emerged of a woman who works in the building talking about what was happening inside. She talks of how the man was one of their customers but wasn’t ‘mentally stable’ and turned up with gas cylinders strapped to him.
