Filthy Luker has come together with Red Stripe to make an amazing Space Invader installation on Manchester’s Town Hall as part of the Make It With A Redstripe®, Make Art On The Street initiative.
As the video shows, Filthy Luker, who has a knack of making the ordinary anything but ordinary has transformed the Manchester Town Hall into an art mural with plastic road barriers being used as attacking space ships to turn the side of the building into a hommage to everyones favourite 80s arcade game.
This is yet another piece of art created for Red Stripe as they gear up to work with a number of artists on regional initiatives. Something to be sure to look out for is a four-wheeled mobile art exhibition that will tour Bristol, Leeds and London.
Filthy Luker said of the project and his input : ‘I’ve been obsessed with making art from street furniture for quite some time and had noticed the similarities between these road barriers and the classic invaders – and they seem to be taking over the city! The Make With a Red Stripe project is all about using everyday objects to transform the mundane, which was right up my street and enabled me to realize my concept.’
The artwork on Manchester Town Hall will be in place for the next month if you want to go and have a look. Then keep your eye out for all the other ways Red Stripe is collaborating with artists to inspire everyone to make a little something with a Red Stripe.
