The sun is out again and it looks like it’s here to stay, for a few days at least. So with that in mind we’ve compiled a list for you of London’s best pubs and bars with a view so that you can start planning where you’re going to head for your after work drink…
The Gun: Although it’s a little off the beaten track for those that don’t work on the DLR The Gun is a real hidden London gem. The pub has two outdoor areas, one for their outdoor restaurant complete with BBQ and grill and the other for drinking. And the best bit? Both over look the Thames so it’s the perfect place to sit back and chill out while admiring The 02 and the various boats which travel past throughout the evening.
Where?: 27 Coldharbour Docklands, E14 9NS.
5th View: This cocktail bar and restaurant has views over looking the Houses of Parliament and the surrounding Westminster area. For a location that is otherwise hugely populated with people rushing about this bar is a rare quiet in the eye of the storm.
Where?: 203-205 Piccadilly, W1J 9HA.
The Fine Line: This charming riverside pub overlooks not only the whole of Canary Wharf but also the surrounding water areas. Serving up food made from fresh, local ingredients as well as an impressive list of wines, beers and ales this is the perfect stop pit for anyone passing through the area.
Where?: 29-30 Fishermans Walk, 10 Cabot Square, E14 4DH.
Lockside Lounge: As anyone who’s ever spent time in Camden before will know the lock is where you’re most likely to bump into the most weird and wonderful people. This bar gives the perfect vantage point for watching down on the world beneath you. With DJs most nights and a good cocktail list you can look out over the whole of the Camden lock while still enjoying a good night out.
Where?: Camden Lock Place, NW1 8AF.
The Roof Gardens: It’s an obvious choice but a good one none-the-less. Based on the roof of a tall building in Kensington this bar/restaurant offers views of the whole of the area. What’s more you’ll witness them surrounded by their beautifully kept garden and the flamingos that live up there.
Where?: 99 Kensington High Street, W8 5SA.
The Heights: From the outside this hotel bar doesn’t look like much but when you consider the fact it’s situated 15 floors above Oxford Circus you begin to realise why we’ve included it on our list. Yes the drinks are fairly pricey but for a view of central London this place really can’t be beaten.
Where?: St George’s Hotel, W1
