For the first time ever London has been named the best place to visit in the world.
In a year that has seen vast improvements being made to London’s transport, buildings and events schedule due to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the London 2012 Olympics it has been made the number one must-visit destination.
Previously listed as the 8th most popular place to visit London now sits above cities such as Rome and New York, Paris and previous winner Cape Town.
The list was compiled by TripAdvisor and was based on tens of millions of reviews by the websites users of 440 destinations world wide.
It’s a pretty good feat for us Londoners as in 2010 we didn’t even make it into the top 3 list of British destinations with York, Brighton and Edinburgh all beating us.
Among the most recommended attractions to visit in London were the Ledbury restaurant in Notting Hill and Hotel 41 in Victoria. But what would you put on the list? If you want to share your London recommendations let us know over on Twitter.
