Visitors to London have been warned about our apparent bed bug problem. Sorry, our definite bed bug problem.
It’s something that I personally have never thought about until a friend of mine had them making all her skin come up in a rash and led us to realise that they were a nightmare to get rid of.
Another thing I did not know was that London is considered the worlds bed bug capital. So I did a little research and it turns out this this little event called the Olympics might just put our bed bug issues out of control.
An Australian scientist, Cameron Webb has been warning people that the London infestation of bed bugs could reach the same proportions as the one in Sydney during the 2000 Olympics when, by the end of the games, about 98 per cent of the hotels in Sydney had at least one infected room.
Once someone sleeps in a bed with bedbugs they are very easily transmitted. You could even sit on a tube seat where someone had sat hours ago with an infected bed and there might still be bed bugs lurking to climb up onto you and be transported home.
Bed bugs are already infesting the homes of London at a rate not seen in the last 50 years.
You will find all the horrible facts about bedbugs and how to control and avoid them here.
