Solemn, sombre and dripping with grandiose statements, the first full length trailer for Steven Spielberg‘s Lincoln has finally landed.

Daniel Day-Lewis has managed to turn his visage into the creased mask of America’s most famous politician, presumably with a little help from the makeup department. Tommy Lee Jones and Joseph Gordon-Levitt also feature, which suggests that Spielberg was only interested in hiring stars with double barrelled names to add gravitas to this most portentous of projects.

All the plodding dignity of the trailer will hopefully be spaced out in the film itself, or audiences could be in for a bit of a slog when it hits UK cinemas on January 25th.
