So London Fashion Week is so close I can almost….can you smell that ..in the air?! Ahhh yes that’s it, perfume, perspiration and sheer panic cling to the air as the fashionistas, runners, models and designers descend on London. This evening women across the south will be standing in front of their mirrors wobbling in their heels to check if they are still as uncomfortable as the last time they wore them. Yes. Shirts and dresses will be ironed like the first day of school, and handbags checked with military precision for the presence of all inessential essentials. All done. On your marks, get set, GO.
As I sit here now staring suspiciously at my London Fashion Week day one outfit (yes I planned it and I’m man enough to admit it!) I have time to reflect on why I’m just so excited? To be concise, everything! To be specific lets start with the must see shows.
Sarah Burton has done a brilliant job so far as brand guardian, responsible for maintaing the integrity of the late Alexander McQueen and carrying the label forward into a new and glittering era. Hints from the pre AW 2012 look book suggest that you would have to be coo coo to be disappointed.
Oh our Vivvy, London Fashion Week wouldn’t be complete without an offering from our matriarch of British fashion. Whilst we may be expecting the usual beautiful formula of draping, gutsiness and historical influences, little can compare to the satisfying comfort of viewing her new collection.
Oh the playful charm that is Mulberry, this label keeps up its charm offensive season after season. I can’t wait to see what whimsical delights are on offer let alone the delivery, their shows never fail to woo.
PPQ:
Exciting textures, thrilling silhouettes and an attitude that makes you feel like a fourteen year old girl in your woolen school uniform crushing on your best friends cool older sister. Gulp.
The geometric genius, whose seductive silks and thundering prints are fantastically contrary in tone. Let’s see how this burgeoning designer matures.
Whilst London fashion week may be a whirlwind few days it’s the trends which really count. If the rumours are to be believed we will see Middle Eastern influences with sand, Saharan blue and jeweled colours, long lines and intricate patterning. Whilst laser cut detailing, tonal luxury layering and embellishment may also be on the agenda.
London Fashion Week is usually the epicenter of new talent, so whilst the big guns will undoubtably bring the smiles perhaps its the names we are less familiar with that will bring the grins.
