Timur Kim’s ss13 show carried on with his love of denim, producing another lighter, softer collection with an ultra feminine look and with an impression of chilled out ease.
Denim as one of the most frequently used fabrics applied in various ways to achieve certain looks, Timur’s interpretation is intelligent with different hues of blue denim patchwork design created in print. The silk used for the print allows denim, a heavy weight fabric to have the Impression of a more fluent and light weight luxurious fabric.
All the denim used in Timur’s collection has come from recycled fabrics, Timur told me the process starts of with scanning the fabric samples in preparation to be arranged and printed on to pure silk. This allows the fabric to flow better, increases it’s wear ability but allows it to still have that denim look.
Timur mentioned that
The white motifs printed on the denim were some lace I found from a town back in Russia where I was born. It’s the sort of lace my grandmother would usually make by hand to pass the time
it’s great to see designers referring to their own individual heritage and experiences for inspiration, and to make it their own. But its also with a sincere concern to try to keep the traditional textile techniques alive.
Timur started his design career as young 16 year old, his fabrication skills really show through with immaculate finish’s and perfect fit. I love the stitch details on the see through rain coat which gives the collection a modern edge.
