You always new that this was going to be an expression of what Leutton Postle always does best – intricate standout knitwear, the designers behind the label Sam Leutton and Jenny Postle, both graduates from Central Saint Martins delivered another stand out show with plenty of beautifully crafted items you definitely cant miss. The overall impression was fun and youthful with an ethnic vibe.
This is the first time I’ve been to Leutton Postle show held at the Freemasons hall. The impact was so much stronger, being so close as to discover the intricate details and feel their eccentric vibe.
The ss13 collection was a riot of colour, pattern, texture rendering knit and crochet techniques with straw beading as a decorative trim. The idea of using recycled materials such as straw was a brilliant idea, and added that extra touch to the collection. same time very playful and eye-catching.
Accessorised with bright pop coloured straw architectural glasses and glittery platforms and floaty tassel backpacks and clutch bags. There was an 80′s disco vibe going on with an attitude of everything is good as long as the music is on.
One item i did love were the over sized collars in brights giving that Mad Hatter Alice in Wonderland feel.
I can easily imagine stars such as Rihanna rocking a pair of Leutton Postle glasses on her music tour. Their knitwear is truly artistic with a couture quality with mixed yarns of shining Metallic next to matt, to create texture. The long tassels a theme throughout the whole collection added an ethnic aesthetic.
The innovative approaches by Leutton Postle are designed for those who are adventurous, and individual with a bohemian soul at heart. The experimental and innovative approach to design is sensational. I’m so looking forward to seeing more from Leutton Postal for seasons to come.
