Jeffery’s SS13 collection at the divine Goldsmiths Hall, titled ‘From the water’ used the sometimes under appreciated murky beaches of our fair Isles to evoke the hidden beauty within. Transcending the female form to that of a Siren emerging from the waves and sea-foam on a balmy midnight.
The 19 look collection featured a fantastic mix of tactile fabrics, one more fluid than the other. The silks and finely pencil pleated chiffons flowed across the models bodies and sung with the delicacy of a foamy wave.
The colour palette used covered a wide spectrum, there were cool beiges, creams and grey which were offset with either bold blue, red and pink. The empire line was a feature of this collection, the lengths varied from knee to ankle and his signature print captured the small grey shale of our beautiful British coasts.
Pieces varied from flirty to serene, but the highlight was undoubtably his final piece, a dramatic red chiffon dress with a corseted top featuring glistening red applique butterflies and a solitary large butterfly adorning the models lips. This collection was a game of two halves, the colours muted and bright, the pieces flirty and elegant and the drama however…consistently high.
