Early Sunday evening we were treated to a live presentation of Fred Butler’s Spring/Summer collection. Creating a huge hype, a long queue had formed to just enter the room by the time we had arrived, and everyone was desperate to get in on the Butler action.
The presentation consisted of four models displaying Butler’s latest designs, oozing with a palette of bright, fluorescent colours. Background music was provided by Butler’s personal friend and collaborator, Patrick Wolf, who had created a four-part sound installation, each speaker coloured accordingly to the tones that the models were wearing. Stylebubble.com’s Susie Lau was also on hand to help, hosting a drinks reception of Sodastream cocktails.
Butler’s designs were quite literally a rainbow of colours, with each model having their own theme of colour, all bursting with spirals, twists and ruffles of volume and texture. Many of the outfits had parts that almost reminded us the classic childhood Slinky toys. Accessories were as just as awe-inspiring, with space-style glasses, super-sized earrings, and impressive head wear. The collection, named “Sonic Sinuate Supertemporal Sequestador” was almost more of an art show than a presentation; displaying Butler’s most vibrant and magnificent pieces to date.
Music speakers for the show were provided by Sonos who created wireless speakers to reflect the theme of the collection.
